Latsia theatre vandalised

Latsia municipal theatre was vandalised overnight with slogans declaring “death to traitors” and calling for enosis (union with Greece).

The incident drew condemnation from the Pancyprian Association of Democratic Resistance Fighters which called on the public to celebrate the day ‘of democratic resistance’.

Pictures shared by the organisation on social media showed multiple areas of the theatre covered in blue spray paint celebrating Eoka B, a paramilitary organisation of the early 1970s.

The association is due to hold an event at the theatre on Tuesday night on the occasion of the day of democratic resistance that is marked on December 7.
