Cyprus Film Days closing tomorrow

The 20th Cyprus Film Days concludes on Saturday at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol with a dazzling ceremony befitting of the celebratory occasion. The festival culminates with the screening of the film .dog directed by Cypriot filmmaker Yianna Americanou which explores the human sense of belonging from a social point of view. The film received the Special Youth Jury Award at the 2021 edition of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

A spectacular closing ceremony of Cyprus Film Days 2022, directed by Paris Erotokritou and presented by Kika Georgiou will follow immediately after the screening, during which the festival awards will be announced and presented to the winners. The show will undeniably have a celebratory character, spanning the festival’s history through film titles that left an indelible mark during the past 20 years.

The following awards will be given: Glocal Images Best Film Award (€6,000), Glocal Images Special Jury Award (€3,000), Glocal Images Best Director Award (€1,000), Best Cypriot Film Award (€4,000), Best Cypriot Director Award (DCP Mastering – Deliverables & subtitling services worth of €3,500 sponsored by Authorwave) and Best Actor/Actress Award in a Cypriot film (€500, offered by Limassol Municipality).

The Audience Award will also be announced and presented to the festival’s most popular film as voted by the viewers. Films from both competition sections (Glocal Images & Cypriot Films) are competing for the Audience Award. To wrap up the festival’s activities, a closing party will follow right after the awards ceremony at the theatre.
