Two arrested in cannabis bust

Drug squad officers on Wednesday arrested a 37-year-old and 76-year-old after a bust uncovered 1.5kg of cannabis and 24 marijuana plants.

Members of the unit carried out a vehicle spot check at 8:15am in Limassol where the two men were stopped, with subsequent checks at their residences turning up 1.5kgs of cannabis in various locations. At a storage unit, owned by the 76-year-old, officers found 24 marijuana plants ranging from 10-80cm in height.

The items were confiscated as evidence in the case and the two men are being held pending a court appearance on Thursday.
