Sheftalia contaminated with salmonella taken off the market

Batches of locally produced frozen pork ‘sheftalia’ and chicken burgers were withdrawn from the market due to a salmonella link, the health ministry’s health services announced on Wednesday.

The products were found to contain the salmonella bacteria during controls and laboratory tests by the health services of the health ministry.

The first product concerns Agroktima Nefeli deep frozen 800g pork sheftalia packs with a best before date of March 8, 2023 and a freezing date of March 8, 2022. The product is packaged in an airtight tray with transparent plastic by Nefeli Farm.

Dialekto Cac quality foods deep frozen chicken burgers weighing 600g with the batch number 5291824005486 were also found to contain the bacteria.

The specific batch was frozen on March 8, 2022 and carried the expiration date of May 13, 2023, the announcement said. It is sold in an airtight container covered with transparent plastic. The burgers are produced in Cyprus by Cac Papantoniou trading Ltd.

The health services have already informed the company that distributes the products to immediately recall them from the market.

Consumers who purchased the specific items were advised to avoid consuming them and return them to the store.
