FemiNest group exhibition opening in Nicosia

feminest

Early February will bring a new art showcase to Nicosia with seven artists holding group exhibition FemiNest at Diatopos Contemporary Art Centre as of February 7.

Talking about FemiNest, the organisers explain: “This is an exhibition around the idea and meaning of the nest both literally and figuratively. The nest suggests comfort, home, protection, family but also isolation, entrapment, responsibility and duty. Seven contemporary women creators explore various and diverse fields concerning the modern woman and focus on creativity, spirituality, inner and outer space, social attitudes, reactions, resistances, ideas, anxieties, expectations, dreams and nightmares in a world unpredictable and sometimes hostile that is constantly changing.

“Their work focuses on the complex and multi-layered idea of the nest, which each of them presents in their own special way and visual vocabulary.”

Kakia Katselli, Elena Kouma, Evdokia Kyrkou, Miriam McConnon, Marianna Constanti, Zohar Barak and Katerina Stavrou take part in the exhibition that will run until February 17.
