A 39-year-old man will head to trial for attempted murder in Famagusta criminal court, over suspicions he was behind a shooting close to the Ayia Napa marina last month.

Police on Saturday said his remand order expired a day earlier, and court decided his case would be referred to criminal court.

The trial will begin on January 11 and the suspect will remain in custody until then.

The attempted murder took place between November 21 and 22, however police received more information on the 27th.

The incident took place close to the Ayia Napa marina, where a vehicle was shot at, that had two individuals aged 34 and 40 inside.
