Arrest for smuggled beef

Over two dozen kg of beef were confiscated at the Ayios Dometios crossing point by authorities in the north, and an individual was arrested, reports said on Wednesday.

According to Turkish Cypriot media, a 29-year-old was arrested by police in the north trying to cross with 34 kg of beef.

Police said that the individual had 25 kg of beef and another 9kg in mince in their vehicle.

The individual failed to produce documentation for the meat, and was arrested, police said.
