Coronavirus: 9,594 checks see 155 people, two businesses charged

A total of 155 people and two businesses were charged in the 24 hours up to 6am on Thursday morning for breaking coronavirus protocols.

A police spokesman said these were the result of 9,594 checks.

In Nicosia 2,063 checks were carried out and 26 people charged, in Limassol 3,019 checks were carried out resulting in 71 charges.

In Larnaca 1,291 checks were carried out with 16 people and one business charged, while in Paphos 694 checks saw 14 people and one business charged.

In Famagusta 1,191 people were checked and 19 of them charged, while in Morphou 891 checks led to three people being charged.

Traffic police stopped 409 people, six of whom were charged.
