Two arrested at Ayios Dometios for attempted illegal entry

Police arrested two people after locating a 28-year-old in the luggage compartment of a vehicle at the Ayios Dometios crosspoint.

According to a police statement, around 8pm on Monday, during customs control of a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man and coming from the north, a 28-year-old man was found in the boot of the car.

Further inspection revealed that the passport belonging to the 28-year-old had no entry visa or residence permit.

During questioning, the 27-year-old allegedly admitted that he received a sum of money from the 28-year-old for his transfer to the republic.

The two men were arrested and detained while the Nicosia police continues investigations.
