Comedy nights in English

More stand-up and comedy evenings are coming up and surprisingly, they are all in English! April and May’s comedy nights, however, are being held in English welcoming comedians from the island and one from abroad returning for a night of laughter in Larnaca.

Coming up first is a comedy night at Limassol bar Sto Dromo as comedian and creator of the Cyprus Comedy Central, Irene embarks on an island tour. Titled Irene’s World’ish Tour, her first show will be on April 28 in Limassol sharing storytelling, marriage advice and laughs at her attempt at parenting while being parented.

On May 12 at Sarah’s Jazz Club, a comedy open mic night welcomes performers to showcase their new material. The evening starts at 8.30pm and is organised by Cyprus Comedy Central to highlight the English-language comedians of the island. Performances have to last between five and ten minutes and first-timers must send a video clip of the proposed sketch to the organisation.

Then on May 25, two comedians will take the stage of Savino Live for a unique show. The Australian comedian Elena Gabrielle will travel to the island again for a fun show along with local comedian Peter Kypri, who you might know as the Cypriot Smurf. Featuring some dirty jokes and wild stories, May 25’s comedy night is for an 18+ audience.

“Elena Gabrielle has always been told she’s dirrty,” say the organisers, “not literally, more figuratively and after many of her hilarious dating stories went viral she is back with a new show talking all things… well dirrty.” Kypri will take to the stage without his typical fake moustache to give audiences a look into what goes through his mind on a daily basis, his funny encounters and incessant overthinking. Take your pick of comedy nights and hope for lots of crackling laughter!
