Eighth teen remanded after school arson (updated)

An eighth teen arrested in connection with arson at a Nicosia school was on Monday remanded in police custody for two days by the Nicosia district court.

According to the police, the teen was the latest to be arrested in connection with incident that took place on Friday, when, after midnight, officers received a call about a fire at a school.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, which damaged a several classrooms.

Upon further investigation, police determined that several windows had also been broken, most likely from stones thrown at them.

On Saturday, police had arrested three individuals were later that day remanded for four days, while later on Saturday night police arrested a further three, who were remanded for three days on Sunday.
