President Nikos Christodoulides on Tuesday signed a book of condolences opened at the Embassy of Kuwait for the late Emir Sheikh Nawal al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

“In this time of deep grief, I am convinced that the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Kuwait will continue to work towards the further enhancement of the bilateral cooperation in accordance with the spirit and guidance of late Emir’s bequest; that of mutual understanding and respect for dialogue, continued progress, and durable peace,” the president wrote. “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

He expressed his condolences to the royal family of Kuwait, the government and the people over the loss of the Emir.

He noted that both the state of Kuwait and the broader region have lost “a charismatic leader and a valued partner whose lifelong dedication to his country and his steadfast commitment towards regional peace and prosperity constitute concrete examples of his great legacy”.
