Man arrested after police find fireworks in his home

Limassol police said they have arrested a 36-year-old man after discovering flame torches, smoke bombs and fireworks.

Following a tip-off, Limassol officers searched the house of the suspect at around 7pm on Wednesday.

In a storage room of the house, they found 51 fireworks launchers, 25 firework shots, 34 pieces of multi-launchers ground fireworks, 49 firework shots, 101 launchers, five firework shots, 171 smoke grenades, 33 fire torches, 201 fireworks launchers eight shots and three multi-launchers ground fireworks 64 firework shots.

The man was arrested for illegal possession of explosives.

During questioning, he admitted he imported some of the recovered explosives from abroad and brought the rest from the north.
