Authorities in the north have extended the visiting hours to the fenced-off area of Varosha, it emerged on Tuesday.

As of Wednesday, people will be able to visit the fenced-off city from 8am to 8pm, the Cyprus News Agency reported citing Turkish Cypriot media.

To date, visiting hours were 9am and 5pm.

Varosha was partially reopened on October 8, 2020, when over 2,000 people visited the area.

The move has been widely condemned by Greek Cypriots and the international community.
