Man jailed for six years for rape of minor

Paphos criminal court on Tuesday handed six-year concurrent sentences to a 23-year-old man over the rape and sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl from the United Kingdom.

The two individuals had developed friendly relations during the 15-year-old’s visits to Cyprus for holidays. According to an announcement of the court, the crimes took place in August 2019 inside the man’s car at a coastal area of Paphos.

The court took into consideration that the man was 19 years old at the time he committed the crimes and the fact that his case was interrupted during the hearing and resumed at a later time, extended the time he had to wait for the establishment of criminal responsibility.
