Man arrested for texting threats in Paphos

Police in Paphos on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man for sending threatening text messages.

According to police spokesman, Michalis Nikolaou, a 39-year-old permanent resident of Paphos filed a report, stating that between 6.50pm and 8.15pm he had received threats against his life via text messages to his phone.

The complainant told police he knew the identity of the sender and the reason for the threats, which was that the 39-year-old had been arrested and charged for assaulting and causing bodily harm to a relative of the sender.

Police proceeded to arrest and take into custody the 29-year-old sender shortly before midnight.

The case is under ongoing investigation.
