Eurobank Cyprus certified for environmental management

Eurobank Cyprus has successfully completed the certification process for its Environmental Management System, adhering to the principles of the international standard ISO 14001:2015, according to an announcement released on Thursday.

This achievement followed an inspection conducted by an accredited Certification Body, recognised by the National Accreditation System (ESYD) and a member of the International Network of Certification Bodies IQNet.

The certification scope encompasses all services offered by Eurobank Cyprus across its nationwide premises (Central Offices and 8 Branches), which include a comprehensive range of financial products and services for individuals and businesses.

ISO 14001 is an international environmental management standard established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), serving as a vital tool for enhancing businesses’ environmental management efforts and continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Eurobank Cyprus said that the ISO 14001 certification represents an enduring commitment to environmental protection, continuous improvement in environmental performance, and reducing its environmental footprint.

“It demonstrates full compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and high environmental standards,” the bank said.

“The bank’s dedication to environmental protection, and sustainable development, forms an integral part and a key pillar of its corporate social responsibility strategy,” it added.

Moreover, the announcement explained that this certification will guide the adoption of a holistic approach to continuously reduce the bank’s environmental impact, enhance environmental performance through improvement programmes, effectively manage energy and resource consumption, and further deepen efforts to shape and promote environmental culture among Eurobank Cyprus staff.

Commenting on this milestone, Raphael Papamarkou, Eurobank Cyprus’ Head of Safety, Health & Environment, highlighted the fact that “the bank’s steadfast commitment to sustainable, responsible business practices, maintaining high environmental standards, and continuous improvement in environmental performance”.
