foreign ministry

The foreign ministry on Thursday expressed its condolences over the loss of life in the bombings in Iran a day earlier.

“We express our deepest condolences for the loss of so many innocent lives, including women and children, and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured during the bombings in Kerman,” the ministry said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“Our solidarity with the families of the victims,” it added.

The death toll from Wednesday’s attack in Kerman in southern Iran has been revised down to 84 from an earlier figure of 95.

The Islamic State group (IS) said it carried out the attack. It made the claim via its channels on Telegram.
