Spring is a busy season for concerts, performances and events and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra has plenty in store for both the music lovers and the musicians of the island and beyond. Apart from a series of concerts all around the country, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation has another exciting occasion on its spring agenda.

In collaboration with the internationally acclaimed conductor and conducting pedagogue Michalis Economou, the Foundation will organise the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra International Conducting Masterclass and Competition from May 20 to 24, giving a platform to emerging conductors to shine and be trained.

Michalis Economou is the founder and director of the only national conducting masterclass in Greece, as well as of four annual international conducting masterclasses in Hungary, Malta, Roumania and Athens. The CySO International Conducting Masterclass and Competition will give the opportunity to ten young rising conductors from all over the world to work for five days with maestro Michalis Economou and the CySO, as well as conduct in the final public concert to take place on May 24 at Strovolos Municipal Theatre. Moreover, the young conductors will compete to win an invitation to conduct a concert with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra during one of the forthcoming seasons.

Applications are now being accepted for the masterclass and competition until April 8 and more information can be found on the Orchestra’s website.
