A total of 13 children were arrested and accused in writing in Limassol on Friday night after having illegally lit bonfires.

The bonfires form part of the Cypriot Easter tradition of “lambradjia”, which is now strictly controlled by law.

Three of the children were found in the Saint Barbara church in Zakaki, and the other ten were found in the Saint Nicholas church in Kato Polemidia.

All were charged in writing in the presence of their parents or legal guardians and were subsequently released.
