In today’s episode, Cyprus wants to go tough on migrant smugglers and will set up a special unit on illegal migration within the police force, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the minimum wage will go up from €940 to €1,000 a month, Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou announced after a cabinet meeting, in a move that has left the island’s largest trade union dissatisfied.

Elsewhere, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen arrived in Cyprus on Wednesday for an official visit aimed at discussing the implementation plans of the ‘Amalthia’ initiative for humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
