Coronavirus: Ayia Napa municipality to provide free counselling

A year into the coronavirus pandemic, the Ayia Napa municipality said Wednesday it was offering free counselling for residents of the popular holiday resort who had trouble coping.

“The emergence of the pandemic, the lockdown, and its adverse effects led to dramatic changes in our daily lives,” the municipality said in a written statement.

“Fear of Covid-19, job loss, and financial hardship are some of the changes that inevitably affect people’s mental health and well-being.”

Health ministry mental health nurses specialising in counselling will be providing psychological support in collaboration with the municipality.

This will be done individually by phone or via Skype after arranging an appointment, at no cost. The programme operates daily from Monday to Friday, from 07.30am until 3pm. Appointments can be made by calling 99152816.
