Concerts keep on coming next month

Making summer plans feels slightly more possible right now, even though things are still up in the air and anything could change in a minute. Nonetheless, with restrictions lifting and things opening up, making plans is now possible. Here to add a touch of excitement to our summer in Cyprus are several concerts by well-known Greek singers. Mariza Rizou and Natassa Mbofiliou have planned concerts coming up this June.

First up is Mbofiliou who will perform along with Themis Karamouratides and Gerasimos Evangelatos on June 15 at Limassol Municipal Gardens, June 16 at Skali Aglantzias and June 18 at Pattihio Amphitheatre in Larnaca. Their new show is called I Epohi tu Therismu, meaning harvest season, and it is based on their album of the same title which left the best impressions and is considered to be their greatest creation yet. This June, the three musicians will present it for the first time in front of a live audience after a difficult winter that stripped them of performances.

“Their new, long-awaited songs,” comment the organisers, “arrive with a twist to bring light, brilliance and optimism but also realism and socio-political messages during this strange and dark era.” Part of the repertoire are also Mbofiliou’s greatest hits and the people’s favourites. “It’s an exciting concert for Greece and Cyprus,” add the organisers, “one of those that we missed a lot, with the guarantee of excellent performers.”

Also on this June are two concerts by the lively and vibrant Mariza Rizou, in Limassol and Nicosia, who always manages to uplift her audience with her charming, heart-warming songs. On June 28 Rizou will present songs from her personal album, old and new, and spicy cover songs full of energy. Guitars, pianos, Hammond organs, tzouras and davul instruments will be on stage to add a funkier note to the concert.

“With an open heart and longing,” says the organising team, “we will enjoy a unique summer night, a special live, on Monday, June 28, at the Limassol Municipal Gardens and June 29 at Skali Aglantzias.”
