Coronavirus: 31 individuals, six businesses fined for breaking decrees

A Nicosia business was fined €8000 and a Larnaca supermarket €4000 as part of police checks for Covid measures in the past 24 hours.

They were among 31 individuals and six businesses found to be in violation of decrees after 4,096 checks islandwide.

In Nicosia police carried out 1,159 checks and fined two people and one business owner, in Limassol 16 individuals and three business owners were fined during 255 checks and in Larnaca two people and one business owner were fined after 721 checks.

In Famagusta inspections numbered 828 and police fined six people while in Morphou 188 checks were carried out, but no violations were reported.

Also, the Traffic Department and the Port and Maritime Police carried out 191 and 133 checks respectively, without any complaints.

As regards the  fines for business establishments, the Cyprus News Agency said that in Nicosia a business was fined €8000 for failure to check whether customers had a SafePass, while in Limassol three businesses were fined €500 each because a number of employees and customers did not have a SafePass.

In Larnaca, a supermarket was fined €4000 because the manager was not wearing a mask.
