A 30-year-old man was remanded on Saturday after he was arrested based on a European arrest warrant while trying to cross to the north.

The wanted man was identified during a check at a crossing point he visited around 3pm on Friday.

The European arrest warrant was issued by a foreign country for a sentence of two and a half years in prison, following his conviction in September 2020.

He was arrested with a Cypriot arrest warrant later that day, while on Saturday morning he was remanded until Monday by Limassol district court.
