Man injured in Paphos attack

A 36-year-old asylum seeker from Syria was injured late Tuesday in an apparent attack with a sharp object and was being treated at Paphos General Hospital, police said.

According to police, information was received at 10.15pm that the injured man had been taken by a group of his compatriots to the A&E.

They said that due to his injuries he was unable to provide an immediate statement to authorities. He injured man underwent surgery for injuries to his left arm but is not in danger.

The investigation was being resumed on Wednesday morning.
