Today’s weather: Cloudy, rainy and windy

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with local rains and isolated storms expected, mainly in the western half of the island. Temperatures will rise to 19C inland, on the west and north coasts, 20C on the south and east coasts, and 8C in the higher mountains. Snow or sleet is possible in the higher mountains. In the afternoon a temporary dry spell is expected. Winds will be south-westerly, moderate to strong, up to 5 Beaufort and locally, at times, very strong, up to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be rough. 

Overnight the weather will stay overcast with isolated showers and later thunderstorms, starting in the west and expanding to the rest of the island. Temperatures will drop to 9C in the interior, 13C on the coast and 4C in the higher mountains, where locally frost is also expected. Winds will be mainly south to south-westerly, up to moderate, 4 Beaufort, and on the coast transiently up to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will remain rough. 

Wednesday is predicted to be mainly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms continuing. Thursday and Friday will start off clear, gradually turning cloudy with occasional showers.

Temperatures are not expected to change appreciably through Friday, continuing to fluctuate above average for the season.
