How to make a Newton’s Cradle with marbles

Hey kids, would you like to make your own Newton’s cradle using popsicle sticks, marbles, twine and glue This video shows you how!

A Newton’s cradle – named after 17th-century English scientist Sir Isaac Newton – is a device that demonstrates the conservation of momentum and energy through swinging spheres.

When one sphere at the end is lifted and released, it strikes the stationary spheres, transmitting a force through the stationary spheres that pushes the last sphere upward. The last sphere then swings back and strikes the nearly stationary spheres, repeating the effect in the opposite direction.

Follow along with the video, and build one for yourself.
