Suspect in spate of thefts caught in Nicosia

Police in Nicosia on Tuesday arrested a 41-year-old resident to facilitate investigations into eight cases of theft.

According to police statement, around 11 pm officers stopped a car driven by the 41-year-old for a check. A search of the vehicle turned up various burglary tools, as a result of which the driver was arrested for evident offences.

The suspect allegedly confessed during questioning to having committed eight cases of theft and another attempted theft, and gave details of the sites where the crimes were committed..

Nicosia police are continuing investigations.
