Telsim, the largest telecommunications network in the north, have announced that its long-awaited upgrade to 4G mobile internet will be ready for operations on July 30.

Speaking on Thursday morning, its general manager Sefer Tuz said that the end of July will ‘make history’ for the north’s digital sector.

He also said that the industry must now work towards upgrading its network to 5G.

Telephone users in the north are currently limited to a 3G network, which has data speeds as little as one sixth as fast as 4G.

4G mobile internet has been operational in the Republic since 2015, with 5G operational since 2021.
