Sixth arrest for hooligan incident

Limassol police on Friday said a sixth arrest has been made in relation to the incidents of hooliganism that took place last week.

The incident involving over one hundred hooded and masked men attacking each other with rocks, firebombs, and teargas and resulting in at least one serious injury, as well as material damages, started outside the clubhouse of one team.

The latest suspect arrested, a 22-year-old, was interrogated and charged in writing before he was released. He will be summoned in court at a later date.

This brings the total number of arrests with regards to the incidents to six. The other five arrested are all men, aged 21, 22, 31, 44, and 47. They have similarly been charged in writing and are due to appear before court at a later stage.
