The Greek Cypriot arrested in the north after police found 10 grammes of cocaine in his underwear was sent to prison pending trial for a period not exceeding two months.

He had been arrested last week at the Ayios Dometios crossing point after police received a tip off, and charged with importing and possessing illegal drugs.

At the northern Nicosia district court, police officer Serkan Sakalli explained that the investigation into the matter is ongoing and asked that the suspect be kept in custody.

Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgec ordered that he be held for a period not exceeding two months.
