A 28-year-old woman was found dead at the Petra tou Romiou site in Paphos on Saturday morning.

Officers were alerted to the scene where she was later identified as a Ukrainian national who is a permanent resident of Paphos.

According to police, she was there with her partner where under conditions that are still being investigated, she fell. The city’s police chief Nikos Tsappis said officers were investigating all scenarios that concern how she died and were not ruling out foul play.

Her partner, also from Ukraine said her death was due to an accident. In his initial police statement, he said she had slipped and fallen, according to CNA.

Reports suggested she was trying to take a selfie though police said they could not confirm anything. The state pathologist went to the scene to investigate.

The woman’s body had to be retrieved by a helicopter team as the area where she fell was very step.

Officers cordoned off the scene while police tried to obtain evidence that could shed further light on to what had happened.

Investigations are continuing, police said.
