Police investigating explosion outside Aradippou residence (updated)

Police on Thursday are investigating an explosion that occurred in the early hours outside and inside a residence in Aradippou.

According to the police the explosion happened around at 2.45am and initial tests reveal it was caused by an explosive device.

The entrance of the house, inhabited by a 51-year-old man lives and his family, was damaged.

Members of the Larnaca CID and police explosives experts swiftly arrived at the scene and collected evidence, which will be sent for necessary scientific examinations.

The area was cordoned off, and investigations revealed that the explosion was caused by a low-intensity explosive device placed outside the main entrance of the residence.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the family members who were inside the house at the time of the incident.

However, the explosion did cause damage to both the exterior and interior of the house.

According to the police, the 51-year-old homeowner has also named a few suspects, who are currently under investigation by the police.
