Driver found to be more than five times over the limit

A 63-year-old man was found drink driving more than five times over the limit, police said on Monday.

He was also driving without a licence and insurance.

Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou said that on Sunday at 3pm members of the traffic police stopped a vehicle on Aristotelous Savva Avenue.

“The individual was driving without a valid licence, without insurance certification, and was under the influence,” he told the Cyprus News Agency.

An initial test found the alcohol level in his system was 117µg, exceeding the permissible limit of 22µg.

The 63-year-old was taken home after being formally charged, and will appear in court at a later date.
