A 31-year-old man was remanded for eight days on Friday in connection with a bomb explosion in Paralimni last month.

The bomb had been placed outside a nightclub in Pernera at around 2am on March 22. The resulting explosion took place next to a garage door on one side of the building.

Famagusta police said the explosion was caused by “the detonation of a low-power explosive.”

It resulted in extensive damage to the building, but no injuries were reported.

The nightclub itself was closed at the time of the explosion as it is only open during the summer months.

Famagusta district court which issued the remand order for the suspect said the 31-year-old is being investigated for offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted destruction of property with explosives and illegal possession, transportation and use of explosives.
