Man arrested for drug driving, lockdown and traffic violations

Paphos police detained a 22-year-old on Monday evening in connection with driving under the influence of drugs and other offences.

Police said the man was arrested after he failed to stop for a routine check on the Mesoyi roundabout as part of government measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

He was chased by officers on motorcycles and intercepted near Tala. It was determined that he had been driving under the influence of cannabis while his vehicle had been declared as being out of circulation and had no insurance or MOT.

The man also faces reckless driving charges and a fine for violating the lockdown.
