Run Santa Run

There is no denying that Nicosia is dressed in the Christmas spirit, and next week it will fill with Santas running for charity.

Run in Nicosia organises its annual Santa Run on December 26, where runners dress up as Santa Clauses and by running, contribute to the Elpida Foundation for children with cancer and leukemia. Runners, cyclists, skaters, walkers and organised groups join the event each time to support this charitable cause. Its upcoming edition next Tuesday will be the eighth consecutive year the event is organised.

Runners will meet at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Elysee (GSP intersection), Strovolos Town Hall, the APOEL Association and KASA College to begin their run and conclude at the entrance of Makarios Hospital where they will sing Christmas carols and hand out gifts to children and hospital staff. The Santa participants will be led by experienced runners and cyclists and will move in groups on public roads and sidewalks.

Given the season, the pace will be rather festive and slow, allowing runners of all levels and endurance to enjoy the event. The last day to sign up is December 21. At the end of the choral visit to the hospital, the runners will regroup and be offered hot soup and wine whilst a music party unfolds in the background.
