A would-be burglar brandishing a knife was chased off by a kiosk employee with a piece of wood in Limassol early on Tuesday morning, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

It said that a hooded man had entered the kiosk on Mishiaouli and Kavazoglu streets at around 3.00 am and threatening the employee with a knife demanded the cash from the till.

Unfazed, the 58-year-old employees grabbed a piece of wood, and the would-be burglar ran off.

Police have cordoned off the area as they investigate the incident and search for clues that will lead them to the perpetrator.
