OPAP Cyprus to take part in Wings for Life World Run

Wings for Life OPAP

By giving wings to sport, culture, education, the environment and, above all, health, OPAP Cyprus is participating in the Wings for Life World Run, to support the global effort towards curing spinal cord injury.

Such injury is one of the most devastating traumas to the human body, which, other than paralysis (paraplegia and quadriplegia), creates much suffering and many complications in basic bodily functions.

For this reason, OPAP Cyprus will participate, together with the Cyprus Paraplegics Organisation and thousands of other runners around the world, in the Wings for Life World Run on Sunday, May 7, inviting everyone to follow the event either in person at the Finikoudes waterfront, or online via the Wings For Life World Run app. In terms of the app experience, users get to keep pace with thousands of fleet-footed runners from around the world, following the route of the country of their choice.

In all participating countries, the Wings for Life World Run will begin at 2pm on May 7, offering powerful in-person experiences and online thrills to all. That is, by participating in the run, starting from Larnaca’s Finikoudes seafront, but also via the Wings For Life World app, available for desktop or phone through the App Store or Google Play, allowing for an unprecedented sound and image user experience.

Anyone can search the wingsforlifeworldrun.com page, register and take part in Sunday’s world race – whether in person, or online. The event promises to be a unique experience that will help support research programmes and clinical trials worldwide toward treating spinal cord injuries. An effort that began in 2014 and has raised €38.3 million, drawing over one million participants in the Games in 195 countries.

In 2022, the Wings for Life World Run managed to raise €4.7 million and brought together 161,892 participants from 192 countries. OPAP Cyprus encourages everyone to try to break the record this year for the benefit of fellow human beings. Join us by registering via the Wings for Life World Run app and showing up at the starting line on Sunday, May 7, at 2pm at Larnaca’s Finikoudes.
