Turkish Cypriot representatives in Paris for European Council meetings

Two Turkish Cypriot ‘MPs’, Oguzhan Hasipoglu of ruling party the UBP and Armagan Candan of opposition the CTP, were in Paris on Wednesday for committee meetings of the European Council Parliamentary Assembly.

The pair participated in meetings of the Culture, Science, Education, and Media committee, and the Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable development committee.

In his intervention in the meeting, Hasipoglu spoke about the “sports embargo” imposed on Turkish Cypriots, speaking about how the north is not invited to take part in international sporting events.

Candan spoke about the bicommunal technical committee for the protection of cultural heritage.

In addition to the committees, the pair also held bilateral meetings with MPs from other countries.
