A fire that broke out at a restaurant on Amathountos avenue in Limassol on Tuesday afternoon has been successfully brought under control, with three fire trucks deployed to the scene.

According to Fire service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire has been contained, but investigations are underway to determine its causes.

Kettis provided further details on the incident, saying that the fire damaged the restaurant’s chimney and part of the wooden ceiling, as well as parts of the ground floor and first floor.

Kettis also mentioned the measures taken during the firefighting operation.

“For the extinguishing, the roof was partially dismantled. Inside the building there were staff who were evacuated without any danger,” he said.

Initially, firefighters had to wear masks to combat the dense smoke inside the building. Further details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are expected to emerge as investigations progress.
