Woman arrested for driving stolen car high

arrest

A 42-year-old woman was arrested in Paphos for driving a stolen car and testing positive for a narcotest, police said on Monday.

The woman also had an unspecified quantity of cannabis on her person.

Officers began investigating the case on Sunday afternoon after another 42-year-old woman reported her car was stolen. The woman had parked it outside her mother’s house and forgot the keys on the vehicle.

At around 6:30pm, police saw the vehicle on Mesogis avenue and when asked to pull over, the driver appeared to be from the same village as the car owner.

After testing positive for a narcotest and was found with the cannabis, she was arrested on the spot.

She is expected to appear before Paphos district court for a remand order.
