OPAP Cyprus creative drive boosts aspirations of local youth

OPAP Cyprus is bringing another dimension to its long-standing support for the aspirations of Cyprus, promoting healthy standards of sport, culture, science and education to the island’s youth.

Thanks to its new creative campaign, ‘GREAT. Just Like You’, OPAP Cyprus gave kids the chance to communicate directly with local role models, to talk to them, pose questions to them, and learn from their efforts and path to success.

As part of this innovative communication, local children met with fetal medicine pioneer Kypros Nicolaides, internationally-renowned tenor Kyros Patsalides, Olympic silver medalist Pavlos Kontides and 2018 best teacher in the world, Andria Zafirakou. The meetings were a great success, both for the kids themselves and the top guests, with resulting discussions highlighting kids’ thirst to learn and cultivate excellence.

As of July 11, 2022, the children’s meetings with Nicolaides, Patsalides, Kontides and Zafirakou were also posted on social media.

When OPAP Cyprus launched the original project “We Support the Dreams and People of our Country” in 2013 as part of its CSR offerings, there were two objectives:

To actively support the health, sports, education and culture sectors via esteemed local creators, but also to inspire the people of Cyprus, to believe in their own strengths and aspirations. After all, when others have already realised their dream, then nothing is impossible – providing an individual has the requisite will, passion, goals and vision.

This was the message drawn by the kids from their meetings with outstanding individuals, within the framework of OPAP Cyprus’ new creative drive, ‘GREAT. Just Like You’.

It’s worth nothing that the leading figures who met with the children participated in the “We Support the Dreams and People of our Country” project, in addition to the personalities who were in the spotlight in 2019, on the occasion of OPAP Cyprus’ 50th anniversary.
