UNIC invites public to week-long Christmas festivities

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is organising a week-long celebration of the Christmas season, filled with fun events and activities.

The “UNIC Christmas Spirit” programme will run over December 1-7, 2023, at the University of Nicosia campus, and is open to the public.

Christmas tree lighting

The festive events will kick off with the lighting of the Christmas tree on Friday, December 1, at 6pm. Standing 10 metres tall, UNIC’s Christmas tree is among the capital’s tallest. As part of the event’s offerings, the University of Nicosia will treat visitors to complimentary mulled wine, hot soup and treats.

Christmas village

On Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3, from 11am-7pm, visitors can take part in UNIC’s festive “Christmas village”, featuring decorated wooden houses and stalls, an outdoor market with handicrafts, Christmas decorations, gifts, sweets and street food.

There will be activities for both adults and children, ranging from theatrical and musical performances, storytelling, face-painting, a photo booth with Santa and elves, a bouncy castle, and more.

Christmas movie screenings

To complement the festive atmosphere, “UNIC Christmas Spirit” will offer free screenings of seasonal family movies. All movies will be shown at the newly-renovated auditorium inside UNIC’s central building.

Christmas party

The programme of events will culminate on Thursday, December 7, with a Christmas party for UNIC students and alumni at the impressive LOFT Restaurant & Bar, situated on the 12th floor of UNIC’s SIX Residence.
