The number of road deaths has gone down so far this year, police spokesman Christos Andreou said on Monday.

He added that so far 28 people have died on Cyprus’ roads this year, whereas last year at the same time 37 people had died.

Speaking from Limassol, Andreou said he hoped that there would be no further road deaths in 2023.

Andreou said that from Monday until next Sunday a new campaign is being carried out with the European Roadpol Traffic Network, a coordinated operation that takes place in all European countries focusing on drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
