Where do you live?
I live ‘in the World of Mikis Theodorakis’ at the moment! That’s the title of my new album! With my special guests Zülfü Livaneli, Maria Farantouri & George Perris! (And I am really proud and grateful for this!)
Best childhood memory?
Water slides and playing in my grandfather’s fields. He came from Smyrna and was my favourite.
Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish? What food would you really turn your nose up to?
I love sushi. And fish. Any restaurant with fresh fish or sushi would do! That’s why I love New York and the Greek islands. I never eat anything with Feta cheese.
What did you have for breakfast?
I am addicted to fresh orange juice! Always accompanied by nuts and honey.
Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
Definitely a night person. I have the biorhythm of an owl. A perfect night out would contain a good play, a cozy bar and lots of dance! All with good friends.
Best book ever read?
Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis if I have to pick one. Because each one of us has to seize the day…
Favourite film of all time?
Dead Poets Society. Once again, because each one of us has to seize the day…
Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip?
I travel a lot but there is nowhere like the Cyclades! I won’t reveal more about my own personal paradise there!
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Classical music. Mozart more often. And Greek traditional!
What is always in your fridge?
Lemons. I cannot live without them. My friends in New York call me Betty Lemon!
Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
I am a city person for the time being. An apartment in the centre of Athens, the city I love suits me fine.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Freddie Mercury and Epicurus, the ancient Greek philosopher, simultaneously. I think they knew what life is all about. And it would be an unpredictable evening.
If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Swim for about 3 hours, then sing and have fun with family and friends!
What is your greatest fear?
The fear of not beating fear.
Tell me a joke…
When I was a kid I was 100 per cent sure that Peter Pan exists. I still am.
