Austrian tourist rescued from drowning

A 69-year-old Austrian woman was rescued from drowning early on Sunday in Larnaca, the Cyprus News Agency reported.

The woman was swimming off Phinikoudes beach around 7am when her husband noticed that she appeared to have lost consciousness and began shouting for help.

Lifeguards and other swimmers rushed to where she was and managed to drag her out of the water on time. She was given CPR and taken back to her hotel, the report said.
