By Stelios Orphanides

DIKO chairman Nicholas Papadopoulos said that a “team of experts” is preparing proposals to the European Central Bank on how to establish a national asset management body that will help reduce non-performing loans in the banking system.

“We took the initiative to discuss their proposals together with the ministry of finance,” Papadopoulos who also chairs the finance committee of the parliament said in an interview to state-radio CyBC today without specifying the identity of the expert team which his party brought in touch with the finance ministry. “This is what’s happening a few months now”.
