Family in drug arrest

A couple from Limassol aged 52 and 48, their 29-year-old son, and two family friends, aged 29 and 26, were arrested on Monday afternoon in connection with a case of drug possession.

Police are also searching for the couple’s 23-year old son.

The five suspects were arrested when, following a tip-off, the drug squad found around eight kilos of cannabis and cannabis plants during a search of the couple’s house.

The chief of the drug squad Stelios Sergides told the Cyprus News Agency that during the search, one of the 29-year-olds and the 26-year old were found in a storage room in the house’s back yard packaging cannabis, weighing in total around one kilo, into plastic bags.

In the yard, police found 25 cannabis plants of between 10cm and 60cm, while in the house they found seven packages of cannabis, one kilo each.
